IT is a field in which you really don't need an education. You can be any fool off the street and get a job in IT. It's not like being an electrical engineer or a lawyer. These positions require some document that says you've had formal training and passed some tests. You have an advantage over the guy who just taught himself at home. The degree vouches for you. There is a lot of demand for IT people. Even w/out the degree, you could still get a job. Our IT guy was a drop out. You just have to demonstrate your IT skills. As for getting a BS, most firms will pay half the cost of any classes you take as long as you get a C or better and the degree will benefit your work. Hence, the firm won't pay for that degree in basket weaving. Different firms have different passing grade requirements. They just don't want to pay if you failed the class. Usually, the firm only pays half; you'll have to come up w/ the rest yourself. However, Raytheon paid for my friend's MBA. It depends on the firm. Good luck. I wouldn't worry. Like I said, any fool can get an IT job.
