Networking? Got the business card, Said my thank yous... Now what?!?

It seems that my problems are maintaining my professional contacts, and not the initial phase where I initiate conversation and even getting his/her business card. The issue is I don't know what to do after. What should I do after I have sent a thank you letter via traditional mail or e-mail. How do I respond to "don't hesitate to contact me"? How do I maintain this professional relationship without being too pushy?hanks, in advance, for you answers!

Stay in touch but do something for them. If you see a newspaper article relevant to their job/career/education then send it along. If you come across a new business prospect for them, send it along. It doesn't have to be huge, it just needs to show that you're a valuable part of THEIR network.
Reply:Why don't you just relax and build a relationship. Through conversation you may find a niche where you can be of service.

eg: Maybe you do typing. In conversation you learn they are overloaded or unhappy with present service provider..

Don't pounce - mention that you might be able to be of help ....maybe you and they can set an appointment to explore avenues to mutual benefit etc.... you get the idea, right?

ie: Find a need - and fill it.
