What college is best for you if you are interested computer programming and networking.?

I am a sophomore in high school and my GPA is about 3.40 and i plan to raise it over 3.50 so what college will be best for me if i want to be a computer programmer and also pretty advanced in networking because even the smallest of the smallest business have a network and they also need programmers

What college is best for you if you are interested computer programming and networking.?
The best college in the USA for computer programming is the Massachussets Institute of Technology.

It is a very difficult school to get into. Unless you have top grades and excellent SAT or ACT scores you just can't get into it. Nowadays, many students take honors classes and have a GPA that is over 4.0.

Many of the computer programming jobs are going overseas. This field isn't as good as it used to be.

Good luck.
Reply:well the best school is MIT as people have mentioned but the chances of getting into MIT is so difficult that even 4.0+ students with near perfect SAT scores might not get in.

The 2nd best is CIT Cal Institute Technology but that school is about just as hard to get into as MIT.

those schools are most likely out of your reach so go after schools like Cal Poly or just the best school you can get into generally.

In your here in CA, San Jose State actually has one of the best computer programs in CA despite being a state. It has a lot to do with it being here in Silicon Valley.
Reply:I work as a programmer and my brother is in the networking field. Neither of us have a college education, so it is not necessary to have a career in these fields, but I will add that if you do have a degree it will be easier for you to find good jobs with higher pay.
Reply:MIT

What should I be looking for in buying a new computer, possibly networking with my older one?

I used to be pretty good with computers, knowing what’s what and such, but I’m finding myself a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I have a 5 year old HP computer, that when I bought it was top of the line and has done me proud. But I’ve been entertaining the idea of getting a second computer for a while now. Possibly a Dell. I use my HP mainly for writing, publishing, casual work at home business, and of course internet access. The purpose of the second computer is entirely for fun – gaming!, music, movies, pictures, and other medias – but also – internet access. So, how do I do this? Is my answer as simple as splitting the internet line so that I can have both computers online at the same time? Or should I be looking into some small business computer with networking functions? Any suggestions regarding what I should be looking for? (because let me tell you how very UNeducated the people are at say, Best Buy … ugh) Anyway. Thanks for your help!

You will want a Duo Core processor, lots of memory, at least 2 gigs for Vista. Also, for networking get a router, wireless or wired (wired is faster, but less convenient, If you try to connect both without the router, one will knock the other off when it connects. Good Luck!
Reply:try to ind one with at least 1 gig of memory. I think you cant get a computer without 80 gig or higher. So any computer is good almost. Just look for a good price.

North American desires relocation to Ecuador - networking opportunities.?

North American (US) desires relocation to Ecuador for business/pleasure. Need networking opportunities with English-speaking entrepreneurs (i.e.expats from USA) or English-speaking power players in Ecuador. Preferred city is Guayaquil or Samborondon area. Are there networking sites? Any advice for establishing networking contacts? Best chosen answer will include most comprehensive data with websites, resources, etc (in English). Thanks.

Between Quito and Guayaquil I would move to Guayaquil for the reason that there seems to be more business there. Places in the coast are better (businesswise) than places in the highlands like Quito. It's just part of the business strategy.
Reply:I don't kno. If u want business u should move to Quito.

Starting a PC repair business. Good idea or bad idea in a mid-size town?

In the town I'm in there are about 50,000 people and I would say there are a total of 5 to 7 pc repair shops including those geek squad loosers. I used to work for one of these companies in town, which has a lot of customers.

Is it a good idea to start my own pc repair business?? I would also be doing business and home networking (since that's my specialty. b.s. in computer networking). The company I worked for was very profitable as far as I could tell.

What are some of the pro's and con's? How much money would I need to get started? How can I compete with the other businesses here in town? Would buying a location be better near the mall area?

Hope someone can help.

I also work in computer repairs and I would say a large amount of people rather fix what they know instead of going with the unknown of a new system, and with Vista out there most people are even more unsure about buying the new PC now a days. Home network is a great business now a days, of course I could be saying that since I am also getting certified in that area, but with multiple PC's per home it's in demand. Not sure about start up money but realistically you could start from home with the supplies and tools you know you would need, check local prices for inhome services, price accordingly or at least starting off cheaper then the other guys and then make a name for yourself and spread the word. Probably best advice is test the water first before any huge investments in retail location. Good luck.
Reply:Well PCs are outdated 10 minutes after purchased, the prices keep dropping, and most people replace them before they spend money to repair them.

Well that is me at least. maybe there are allot of people who spend money on repairs.

Another thing about PCs is they are built modular. That means it is just easy component replacements almost anyone can do themselves.

I guess there would be warranty work but enough to make a living?

I don't know anything about the business but that is how I would see it.
Reply:Great idea. Be ready to work though. People are idiots when it comes to computers.

Pros: work from home

Cons: computers are like woman, you think you got it figured out then, well you know.

Do you know what computer requirements i need for a computer network gaming business?

Me and my friends want to put up a computer rental business and want our computers to be able to play the new games coming up like command and conquer 3: tiberian wars. Can you recommend the specs for our computer? Thanks!

Do you know what computer requirements i need for a computer network gaming business?
I would go with....

Processor: AMD Athlon 3800+ (Get AM2 motherboard and chip)

RAM: 1 Gig

VideoCard: For what you are doing, a Radeon X1200 or so.

Harddrive: 80 gigs should do it.

Honestly, if you don't know what to put in the computer, I think you shouldn't be starting this kind of business. Also, check on the legality of renting computers with video games installed on them....

7 Great Lies of Network Marketing

It is not what you think based on the title. I found this article called the 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing which described exactly why my network marketing business was not growing (and sounds like yours also). Basically, I was following my company’s suggestions and sticking with my warm market.

I downloaded to my website http://chrisandpatricia.home.comcast.net... so that you could get it for free.

It is a must read if your business is not growing at the rate you would like.

Again I’ve made if free for you.
