Are there any good business networking sites for gay men?

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

What are the best business networking sites?

I am an exectutive in a fairly large retaurant company. I love where I work but would like to make sure that I keep my options open and make sure that other companies that may be looking for someone with my skills can find out about me. I was wonderign what the best sites are for posting a profile and talkign with others.

What are the best business networking sites?
I have not tried linkedin, but most all the other biz networking sites have turned into a spamming forum where they pitch their 'deal' and have little or no conversation or real value to offer. I am a member of several: Directmatches, Bizprenuer, Bizzyblog, Adlandpro, Ojeez and would not recommend any of them for your purposes. Even myspace is being run over by spammers.

You might do better to just post your resume on some of the job boards.

Reply:LinkedIn.com is pretty widely used. It's good to connect with old coworkers, and especially useful when searching for higher level employees like many corporations do.

I am horrible at business networking?
Yup, it is hard work.

1. Get a hardback notebook that you don't show to other people

2. Divide it into 26 sections, one for each letter of the alphabet

3. When you meet someone, copy down their name, address, phone number, family inof, birthdates, anniversaries, pet names, kid's ages, whatever...

4. Send an appropriate card or newspaper clipping at least 4 times a year. A christmas card can be one of those times.

Questions to Ask:

1. My name is ???, what is yours? Hi !!!!

2. I have been working on .... [Generate a 2 minute exciting elevator speech ... look online for suggestions about how to craft the perfect elevator speech.]

3. What have you been working on ?

4. That's interesting... how did you ???

Or, you must beproud of ????
Reply:If you have a gift for gab or are a great listenser business networkig is very easy. There is no code, just a great opportunity to share business stories, opportunities and get you business out there. Think creatively, unique something about your business that no one else has thought of, Don't be afraid to show difference. That is one thing you can shine at.

I love networking and just because I moved to another state doesnt mean I've lost what I had it just means more fun and opportunity to join the two states!

Go to a Toastmasters meeting and learn what you can do different. They critque public speaking and can help you tremendously

Wonderful time ............

What is Business Networking?

I answered a nearly identical question last week (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

I am aware of several meanings for the phrase "business network." My first assumption would be that you are asking about small groups of business owners who participate in a "referral network."

Assuming that you are referring to business referral networks, I can relate my experience as someone who participated in a successful "business networking group."

The group accepts one business from each category (such as auto repair, dry cleaner, copier sales), and often produces a brochure that lists all the participating businesses (the brochures are then displayed by each member in their reception area). The group meets regularly (often once a week, sometimes every other week or monthly), and the owners share general information about referrals they've made to other businesses in the group; at each meeting, one or two members may be asked to make a brief (5-15 minute) presentation about their businesses.

The theory behind these groups is that business owners and managers who know each other well, and who often patronize each other's businesses, will be more comfortable referring customers to each other. If a customer has a problem, the business will try to solve it to avoid negative feedback to the person who referred the customer, since that person is a source of continuing referral business.

There are lots of variations in how these groups work.

One key area of constant struggle is the scope of each member's classification. If each business category is defined broadly ("financial planning and insurance") then fewer members can join, but if categories are defined narrowly ("stock broker," "retirement advisor," "life insurance," and "auto and home insurance") then there is likely to be overlap and potentially unpleasant competition between members.

Note that members of a networking group are never "required" to refer customers to other members, but of course if nobody refers business to a member, then that member is likely to drop out of the group. And if a member never refers customers to other members, then the other members are less likely to refer business to them.

What is Business Networking?
Do develop a network of persons into business and use each others contacts to foster the overall growth of business.

BNI - Business Networking International?

I'm thinking about joining. I've laready heard all the flowery sugar coated stuff about how good it is, but can anyone tell me if there is a down side to joining?

Thanks

BNI - Business Networking International?
I have been in BNI in the past and am not now.

It is fairly costly for membership and local dues which includes the meals.

There is a major change in membership over a 6 month period and they have substantial membership drives - which are critical to keep the group alive due to the member exits.

Many members are in financial services, real estate sales, insurance, and car sales so you can see mutual benefits with these. There are MLM representatives who are actually looking for others to be MLM reps under them and claim to be selling their wares to get around the BNI criteria prohibiting MLM recruiting. There are many "glorified vitamin" sellers who try to sell overpriced product under the guise of "all natural" or "superior absorbance into the body" or other marketing mode; in fact they offer nothing, sell little, and drop out rather quickly.

They are very structured and there is intense pressure for members to produce leads. This causes people to bring in claimed leads that end up being no lead at all - which is often a bigger problem. Others will claim to have a handful of leads which consisted of bring himself and 3 others to a BNI member restaurant claiming 3 leads, or claiming 2 leads because he fueled his 2 cars at a BNI member gas station last week, etc.

New members are supposed to forge relations with BNI members and drop relations with non BNI members. This means that you should drop affialiaiton with your bank unless your bank is represented (same for cell phone rep, car and home owner insurance, etc). Some do this; many do not. If a member of one discipline from one company (e.g. banker from a given bank) is replaced by one of the same discipline from another company (e.g. banker from a different bank) you are supposed to change banks - and this is asking a lot.

BNI is a franchise. There is a regional manager, who has a financial stake in the busienss. Usually he refuses to remove a member who does not meet the BNI criteria - as it will cut into his earnings. There is no financial accountability so you do not know where money actually goes on the national level. On the local level financial accountability is not a lot better.

If the chapter you are considering joining has a group of members who are in the types of business that will be of mutual support (e.g. car mechanic, car salesman, car insurance rep or mortgage loan rep, realtor, home owner insurance rep) it can be helpful. You will also get to know other people which may be helpful.

There are other similar organizations. BNI is often considered the dominant player. Clearly they have the rules and game plan well defined. Some love it but most are in it for a 12 month period and drop out.
Reply:The down side, as I see it, is that you are married to the group you join. And depending on the industry you are in, the level of business contacts available may not meet you needs. I run a technology business that services companies of 25 or more. A chiropractor and florist were not going to be able to introduce to too many of those. It depends on what you do. I find BNI is often rife with financial consultants, mortgage brokers, real estate agents and insurance brokers, who all work well off each other but not for too many others. If you were in NYC I would recommend Breakfast Network (no international). You are exposed to more people and the diversity of business types and level of business contacts is better. Plus the meetings with your group are monthly, you get to visit other groups each month as well and there is an evening cocktail event each month too. So you get maximum exposure, while still belonging to a community and there are not strict rules about referral quotas and such non-sense.

Outside of NYC, I say try the chambers of commerce in your area and don't forget linkedin.com. There is a great book called "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi which talks about the art of networking. I highly recommend it. And remember, it's not who you know, but who knows you that makes the difference. So make sure you are speaking at different places, have a newsletter in place and are being seen so that people can say, "oh so and so, I've know how s/he is."

Good luck!
Reply:My wife is in it. It is a real commitment. They meet once a week. You are supposed to have a referral for someone in your group every week. It is very structured, so much so that she says it gets very redundant.

Each person has to tell why they are there and what they do every week.

It seems to work better for some professions than others.

It is almost like an extended family. You are expected to refer business to each other. The problem with this is that there may be someone in the group that you would not refer to.

There is an accounting firm in my wife's group. They were there before my wife joined. We had a very bad experience with them. How is my wife supposed to refer business to them?

I am a Realtor. There is another Realtor in the group. Will she ever refer business to them?

These are some of the cons.

For some people or professions it can work well.
Reply:I joined BNI almost 2 years ago... One of the downsides of joining is time. You have to attend every weekly meeting (if you can't be there, then you need to send a sub). It can get expensive (annual dues, lunch fees, gas to your meeting), especially if you don't get many referrals. The key, if you do join, is be active. When I first started I expected that everyone would just flood me with referrals - wrong. I really had to start building relationships with these other networkers. I became secretary (which they say if you are apart of the Leadership team, you have more visual time infront of the others and that tends to lead to more referrals). I really had to work toward getting referrals for the others - if you don't give then you don't receive too many. Why do the others want to help you out if they notice that you aren't helping them out? But, once you get things going and you start getting referrals (even one)...it could pay for your dues, lunches, etc. It is also hard if you don't come in a lot of personal contact with your clients, because then you can't get those referrals for others.

So, I would join if you have time, want to build personal relationships with other business owners/networkers, and realize that this helps local businesses.
Reply:BNI requires commitment, money and time.

Most of the people that attend are very small businesses and sole practitioners, so if you sell to the corporate sector, you are unlikely to get leads.

There may also be cliques and if one of the longer-standing members take a dislike to you, then you are completely stuffed - you will never get a lead.

There are people who benefit - mainly estate agents, mortgage advisers, financial advisers, insurance agents.

Hope that helps

Regards

Hi! You might also like to try Web2.0 sites like Ecademy and Cagora. Whilst not allowing you to "bid" on jobs specifically you will be able to network and the bottom line is people will give work to people they know and like. The only way this happens is if you get out there and network with people. :)

You should also join networks like The Alliance for Virtual Business, IAVOA and A Claytons Secretary. There are others in Canada and the UK. Search for "virtual assistant networks" and you should get a few hits.

www.bttradespace.com is the UK's Business equivalent to Myspace, Facebook and BEBO. An online business community, relatively new in the market, with the ability to host pictures, business profile, video, blogs, have your customers rate your business etc and is a Trading Arena, where you can sell your wares/services to other members of the community with ability to add paypal to your trade space... Best bit is that is is FREE!!! Don't hang about get signed up!
Reply:I am looking myself, there seems to be a need for a good one...ahah a good market to tap into...I would guess that the blogging is really one of the stronger arenas right now in terms of networking, the social networking sites are starting to be used more effectively...

When you find some good ones, promote, promote, promote...
Reply:Craigslist has a "gigs" section which I've used to hire people for "project work," including programmers and data-entry/editing. A lot of con artists and scammers post there, so be careful.

My advice would be to stick to the "main cities" where Craigslist works well (SF, LA, NY) as Craigslist in other cities is buried under spam.

I have been asked to attend a BNI (business networking int)meeting. Anyone know how much it costs to join(£)

They charge a yearly(or 2 yearly) fee I was wondering how much it costs? A business contact has invited me an I am worried that the fee could be rather high and I may not be able to afford it and my contact may not be impressed!

I have been asked to attend a BNI (business networking int)meeting. Anyone know how much it costs to join(£)
The fee is about $50 a month in the Boise, Idaho area. I'm sure it varies at different locations.

I have been a member of these types of networking programs. I have found it is a good place if your target market is smaller business. By that I mean, mom and pop shops to 10 employees. There may be some opportunities for the larger fish, but rarely.

Good luck,

Reply:$295.00 ANNUALLY. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE MONTHLY DUES, RANGING FROM ABOUT $20 A MONTH (IF YOU ARE AT AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT CHARGES).
Reply:You can go to a meeting or two without joining. Then you can judge for yourself if the connections are worth it. Also, if you like it, sometimes you can get put on the sub list and substitute for members: they'll call you if they need someone to go. Then you can go often without being a regular member.

How can I find personal and business networking?

Unfortunately, many people feel uncomfortable in the networking process. They tend to feel unknown how to start, are too shy to attend events alone, don't feel comfortable starting a conversation and don't know how to maximize benefits of networking.

Tips for business networking?

How do you impress someone to enter into a business relationship? What attributes do business genreally seek during their first point of contact with the opposite party?

Tips for business networking?
Being persistent and caring about the others positive outcome.

good Luck!
Reply:You need to be knowledgeable about your own business and interested in theirs. An impression of success, even if you haven't been in a business for very long, is advisable. If you show any negative aspects, then it is a turn-off. I have had people trying to impress me with their business, however, where I had no idea what they were talking about. Be clear, in how you talk and what you are talking about.

People make their mind up within a few seconds of meeting a person so how you look is important. Are you passionate about your own business? Can you show this without being too cocky? Don't try to be somebody you aren't though, as insincerity shows through.

When I go to networking events, I want to know immediately what the other person can do for me or what I can do for them. Business cards are essential.

All the best . . .
Reply:If what you have to offer can solve a problem for the prospective partner or client, then it's an easy win.
Reply:There are many things that impress people within a business relationship. On the other hand there are also a lot of things that 'turn them off'.

It will vary person to person, business to business. When I first engage someone in a business discussion I try to come off as friendly and knowledgeable in my field. I like the other party to be confident in what they bring to the table, but I loath *********. It all comes down to what you really know, and what you actually bring to the table.

Are you, or your business bringing something to the table that the other party lacks? If so, then you'll probably get a second meeting. If you are bringing something new, or better to the dance then you have to present yourself well. Dress nice (depending on the business, you dont have to dress over the top - just not sloppy aka board shorts and sandals--- unless your selling surfboards, then a suit might work against you)

Speak well, always look the other business associates in the eyes. And most importantly, stand by your ideas or product.

I will never do business with someone if i get the slight indication that they are not confident in what they bring to the table....

Confidence will be seen as knowledge %26amp; power- cockyness will be viewd as stupidity and weakness.

best of luck

Network marketing is the wave of the future. It is a business system where the people working with you have an active intrest in seeing you succeed. Look for one with great training.

Beware of the ones asking money for nothing, as a joining fee, or as a monthly membership fee. They are very likely to be pyramid. As in anything in life, keep ou eyes open. But there are marvellous opportunities out there. Some of them has been around for nearly 50 years. No scam will be successful for 50 years.

Why people run from networking business or mlm ?

hi

i m in networking business and geting very good result earning lots of money by working 3 to 4 hour a day. and the good thing is working from home , some time online, if people dont work expecting money its not possible ? is it ? so pl healp me..........................?

Why people run from networking business or mlm ?
People run because of the hype. Too many people lead with the opportunity. It is what most are taught in MLM or Network Marketing. Hassling friends and family will not create success in any business. Also leading with the opportunity when you are not making money is very damaging. The key is to learn marketing skills that attract people seeking what you have to offer. It is very important to learn the foundation of MLM and what makes it weak so that you can build a successful business. I have a couple useful links to MLM facts and tools in my profile page here at Yahoo Answers.

Reply:To work in MLM you have to be mentally tough. It is like anything in life, not everyone will see what you see. I wouldn't worry about the attitude of other people. Many people are content with their job and lifestyle.

Additionally, you will have family, friends and co-workers who will tell you that MLM is a scam and a pyramid. You will get frustrated and will want to quit a dozen times. You will have people in this answer forum who tell you that MLM is immoral, illegal, for suckers and that you should get a regular job. The truth is, more regular business people have gone to prison for scams and schemes and more companies have bankrupted their employees than any MLM company. Yes, there is the ponzi scam. You see in MLM everyone has to be a perfect angel or the whole MLM is painted as corrupt. However, when a individual regular company is indicted, well it was just bad management, or poor investments.

There are those from the "old school" of way of thinking who hate MLM and think that business ownership should only be for a few special people, while everyone else works at dead end jobs making them rich. They also think that the average person who sees a MLM business opportunity or the product or service are too ignorant to make a decision. I mean heaven forbid that someone who can't afford a fancy regular business might have a chance to make some extra money, save on taxes and share the opportunity.

People will also try to scare you by saying that 80 to 90 percent of MLM people fail. What they won' t tell you is that people fail in 80 to 90 percent of the things they do in life (education, losing weight, sports, entertainment, sports, relationships, etc). They will also tell you that only a few people make all the money in MLM. Again, this is true in any business.

A few good links that explains MLM and how to make it work are:

http://www.firstclassmlm.com

http://www.brilliantexchange.com

Also buy and read the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

Learn from people in life who are successful. They can teach you a lot. So if you fail with MLM, who cares. There is no success in life without risk of failure. A batter in baseball who goes to the plate does not get a hit everytime. A singer does not always have a hit single and not every business is successful.

Whether anti-MLM people like it or not, MLM is not going away. Yes there will be those who come and go, but so do a lot of regular businessess. While MLM's won't put any regular company out of busiess, what the "old time" business people don't like about MLM is it takes money and customers away from them. It is always about the bottom dollar.

Good luck and I wish you great success.

Starting a computer networking business?
Check out the sources for some handy sites.

Do you have a name in mind for your computer networking business? Prior to investing your time, money %26amp; effort into a name, it is strongly advised that comprehensive research be conducted to ensure that the name you're interested in is truly available.

This entails searching the pending %26amp; registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark.

Research is needed to make sure your trade name is legally available, before opening, before expansion, before incorporation or before designing your logo. Similarities in sound, appearance and meaning affect you too!

There are 16+ million trade names in use in the United States. Similar names matter, if close in sound, appearance or meaning. Similar names in related classes, distribution channels and customer matter too. You are affected by Common Law use (14 million), State Trademarks (500,000) and Federal Trademarks (2 million).
Reply:Best of luck! You may want to start a networking business, but keep in mind that accounting, record-keeping and managing will occupy a significant portion of your time, taking you away from what you really enjoy - building, maintaining and troubleshooting networks. :)

Sometimes working for someone else is worth it, to avoid the hassles I mentioned. If you don't mind dealing with those aspects of business on a daily basis, more power to you.

Hi.. Im in to networking business ryt now... Does it really work im under the company euro-index.com?
Yes, Euro-America Index it really work. I m invest in EAI, also i m e-broker for EAI in Malaysia.

Euro-America Index runs absolute return strategies. Absolute return funds aim to generate return in both rising and falling markets. Other than most managers of equity funds who generally try to beat the index they are being compared to, our goal is to generate return in a range of market conditions independent of traditional benchmarks http://www.eaindex.com/cmgk2058...

1.8% per day compounded means £1 becomes £660.98 at the end of a year :-)

You will soon find out how 'real' they are when you try to withdraw your £660.98 at the end of the year :-)

Is networking business success?

i got offer from ebiz.com pvt ltd which is a networking organisation who provide computer education.i have seen there product part(computer training)which is really superb but i am confused about business part which is through networking!

Is networking business success?
More people fail than succeed in network marketing. To do network marketing right you need two thing. First you must believe in this form of selling. For that is what it is. Selling. However, you have to purchase monthly an x amount of products. And some companies they will sell you training materials and other business assessories. Its not an easy business to do if i can even use the term business. For what are you actually selling. Most people got into it becasue of the product but for the network business to work, you must RECRUIT people. And more likely than not you will start with you friends, relatives and coleagues. Soon you will run out of names and that is when the rubber meets the road. You must be a natural sales guy to do this. To stay in the system you must start recruiting and sponsoring. So you must commit to the sales process, prospecting, cold calling...all these is good and fine if you are selling a product you love but i bet you you will end up doing what you dont like, recruiting people. After a while everybody becomes a digit and a potential recruit. Be warned there is a lot of i mean a lot of hype. Dont get sucked into it. Dont commit just to shake off whoever is pestering you if any. There is no coincidence in life, if there is its God or the salesmen. Once they are onto you you, unless you say no you will be sucked in. To them its a sales process, you continue the journey, you will end up on their conclusion. Think very carefully. If its a good business, you do not have to justify yourself . Let the business justify your involvment. Not the other way round.

Does business networking work?

Reading a careers book it says it is a good idea to do networking - to build up a network of ex-work colleagues, people in other businesses, networking organisations, and cold-calling companies to speak to and get to know people.

Has anyone tried this? And did it help you in your career?

Does business networking work?
DEFINITELY - networking can help you in your business and in your career

You get to know about job openings before others learn about it. Or someone can recommend you to their bosses for the position because they happened to know you. Or they can introduce you to people who can help you - whether you need funding for a business idea or getting information.

In fact if you are in business, networking is very critical as it can help you land new clients, find investors, find mentors who can guide you, and just someone to pretty much bounce off ideas.

That's why they say never to burn your bridges when you leave a company, because the network you built in that previous employment may prove valuable later on.
Reply:Oh yes! I know a woman in our department who got job just with the help of networking... she is so lucky .. she is so friendly and always planning group lunch and stuff.. gets to work around noon and leaves at 5:00 or something like that.. she has made friends with the bosses and their networks as well ...

Business networking works...
Reply:i would say so , i know many business people who swear by it i know it sounds lame but i would say to my husband can we not go eat somewhere else , he'd say no its networking etc etc and sure a shot he has gotten stacks of business simply through eating in the right places and mixing with the people who may need his business or may someone who might need it , then they tell others so you mix with them etc your reading about it so theres no need for me to waffle on , but its worked for him no end in fact its been the main stay of his IT business.

best of luck
Reply:All that networking means is that you take a structured approach to the people you communicate with. You keep a note of who you've spoken to, what they do and where you met them. You always help other people if they are looking for someone by referring to the 'contacts' you have in your list - broker those meetings if you want to earn extra brownie points. Be seen as a good networker and the right people will be there for you when you need them.
Reply:I've never done it myself, but I've hired plenty of people who used networking to learn of an opening and apply for it. It does work because many jobs are never advertised. It also happens that there is no official opening, but that a particular individual is so compelling that the business searches for an opening for him/her. These jobs only exist because the individual comes to the attention of the organization and the only way to do that is by networking.

Does anyone in the Buffalo, NY area want to join and/or start a business networking group?

I am looking to start my own business networking group. One that is free for people to join and yet still has the same benefits. I was thinking of meeting once a week or once every two weeks. I'm looking for people who are interested in helping me start one up or who want to join once it is started.

How to persuade people that golf is the ideal sport for business networking?

I have an upcoming assessment and my task is to persuade my class that golf is the ideal sport for business networking.

Can anyone give me some directions? What can i say to persuade them?

How to persuade people that golf is the ideal sport for business networking?
Think about it....you're in a confined space (golf cart) with a person for 4-6 hours....if you can't network yourself in that time....you're doing something wrong!
Reply:An interesting thing about "corporate golf"

Few, if any deals are actually made or discussed on the golf course. A round of golf will allow you and your partners to evaluate each other in a non corporate, but competitive setting. You should easily be able to decide IF you WANT to potentially work/network with the rest of your foursome.

You will see how a person acts under pressure (first tee, crappy lie, six foot straight put for eagle, etc.) you will see how they deal with adversity (did they go ballistic, blame their club, the sun, a bird's song?) How they deal with winning, losing, their level of respect for the rules - did they improperly improve their ball's lie, etc. How do they treat the course staff? The cart gal? In short, you will see them as a person.

Now THAT is what four or five hours on the course will do. And speaking of five hours, you will also see how patient they are.

Challenge your organization to come up with a better method.
Reply:In the right setting, a golf course can make the perfect location to conduct business. Done the right way, you would have a meal planned in your day at some point, probably dinner. You spend the first 4:30 hours of your day with a prospect just having a good time and gaining repoire with them. Dinner at the course is where you make your deals. Being a professional on the golf course can make your deal. The way that you behave yourself after you just lipped out a 4 foot putt for example. Do you toss your club as if you were with your buddies or do you just give an "Oh well, I dont plan on turning pro anytime soon anyways." Always conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to everyone. Imagine that your mom was on the course with you.

Versus a basketball, hockey, baseball game? All too loud and too much action.

Good luck
Reply:Well go to the PGA Tour website and read off the tournaments. Notice all of the corporate sponsors. Fed Ex Cup. Talk to a business professor. I'm sure they can inform you on how business is conducted on the golf course. Talk about golf scrambles and how they are good fund raisers. Look at all the commercials on TV by the PGA Tour where people are at work and are trying to get out of work to go play golf. Hope this helps.

Hello, im from Orange County California. Im looking for a great business networking group in my area.?
I've been looking for a good group in North O.C. also, but I haven't found one. All I've seen is BNI, Le Tip, Chambers and the usual stuff. I'm guessing that, if you want something with value, you will need to start your own group. Thats what I've been doing - meeting for breakfast with a good group of business owners and investors.

You can research some of the underlining statistics regarding the fact that most of the people who play golf are businesspeople. Checkout some national golfing magazines for some inspiration.

All the best to you.
Reply:I work at Texas Woman's University Golf Course...I would suggest taking the meeting to a municipal course, these tend to have just the right par...so everyone has the possibility to be successful during your visit....[private course's tend to make people shy away from golf...they all think it's a 'rich' person's sport]...at Muni's most have flexible tee-times, low-cost club and cart rentals, and all day green fees.... Just some random thoughts.

Do you know of any business networking organistations?

Hi there, I've just started my own business and I've joined a few networking organistations like WiRE, Federation of Small Businesses, Women into the Network.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good ones - preferably in the Yorkshire area.

And I mean meet and great type organistations, not people who sell computer netwoking solutions.

Do you know of any business networking organistations?
BNI (Business Network) is a great organization for general business connections. Much better in my opinion than the Chamber of Commerce meetings. They are an international organization, and they do have a few chapters in the UK in Yorkshire, at least according to their website. I have listed the website references below. Try it and good luck!

One of the better business networking associations is the local Chamber of Commerce. They usually have monthly networking meetings and plenty of opportunities to get together.

I've found prospects through Chamber involvement.

Business networking on Myspace etc.?

Are Myspace, Facebook etc. good for business networking? If so are there specifics to doing this?

Business networking on Myspace etc.?
any site that is open to the public and has no way for you to verify the information you see is a waste of time for legitimate business networking. a large part of what is found is half-truths, misleading, exaggerations and in many cases just out right lies. stick to networking where all the information is verifiable.
Reply:Id say yes in some ways but most people on there are very young and interested in other stuff. It MIGHT take long to find interested people.

You can advertise on http://mybloglog.com
Reply:Yes at least I know myspace works. Example I own a body jewelry company and love music. So I target bands and the fans they have. A lot of people that are into heavy metal wear body jewelry. However you must post a lot of bulletins through all hours to catch different people.Plus I designed thanks for the add banners with all my company info on them. Stuff like that. I have receive tons of business from myspace, but it's not easy. I say it is worth it.

Here is my website and myspace.

http://thewrightplace.ws

http://myspace.com/the_wright_place_onli...
Reply:I agree there's a right way to do it that is not annoying to your MySpace friends. You can send add-me-as-a-friend invites to people you don't know but think might be interested in your product(s), but don't annoy them too much or they'll delete you from their Friends list and you won't be able to reach them anymore. I've had to delete a few over-zealous people, but am fine being a Friend with others!

The more niche-y your product is, the easier it'll be to find candidates who are in your target market (example: if you're advertising a multi-level marketing [MLM] company and not a product, there are people in MLM groups on MySpace who will likely be into that - - but it's best if you're in a specific niche like, for example, horse apparel. You can search for horse lovers and send them invites. Then you can send bulletins when you have a new product or a special going on (you can send these at any time of day), and post any trade shows you'll be at, parties you're throwing, etc. on your MySpace page.

From what I've seen, the popular bands or one-person musical acts are pretty good at marketing and self-promoting on MySpace without annoying their fans. I'd strongly suggest you sign up on MySpace and invite some of your favorite musicians to be your friend, then watch how they do it.

I hope that helps, good luck!

New business networking?

Hello, I am starting a new business I will be providing information about tourism suitable for people with disabilities. Can anyone suggest any networking events in the South West of the UK, or any general ideas for how I could go about marketing my new business?

Thanks

New business networking?
It sounds as if you have figured out your market niche, now the problem is finding them...I'm here in the States, so I don't know of any organizations across the pond, but try contacting places that deal with the disabled. War Veterans, Orthopedic clinics, societies for the Blind or Hearing Impared. I would start there and see if anyone is aware of such a need. If not, show them how you provide something new and wonderful...

Good Luck!
Reply:In the US there are non-profits like United Cerebral Palsy etc. and they sometimes have conferences and info fairs..try to get showcased at those

Business Networking?

I am looking for a website in business networking. A lot of people have already recommended websites like myspace and facebook, however, everyone has access to these websites. I would like a website exclusive to only small and medium sized businesses. Can you help me?

Business Networking?
I am not sure of any. the problem is that most networking websites are free to entice users. LinkedIn has been a highly mentioned business networking website of late. What do you want to do exactly? You might be better off trying to find a professional organization that caters to what you want.
